How I succeed by 'failing" at my training program.

Everyone has a different definition of success. When it comes to your personal training program or fitness program, we need to look at the big picture and celebrate the wins no matter how big or small and Jillian needed just that!

See Jillian became a member back in 2018 struggling to stick with a program for more than two months at a time. She was either all in or not there…at all!

She’d go in spurts and we had a talk about her goals and commitment to them then she would reset but fall off bandwagon about the two month or 8 week mark. We moved her to bootcamp into a group that would provide more accountability and while it did it still wasn’t enough.

See, we all have this idea that when we start a program, we are going to results ASAP but that’s not necessarily true. There are so many factors that go into a training program that simply showing up not going to get results besides the newbie gains. Its so much more than that.

Jillian reached out about our ME12 program because she wanted to make some changes. To be honest, I was hesitant. The program costs a lost of money, and time, and if she wasn’t serious and comitted, it would be a waste. After some serious and real conversations about it, she took the leap to get started and I am SO glad she did. I always knew the program would be great for her but we need to make sure she was ready to make the commitment. She sure was!

Look how happy and proud she is after completing 12 weeks!

Many of us can relate to Jillian. We’ve tried multiple times to start a program with the best intentions but it just didn’t work out. You just need to find the RIGHT program for you! Here is Jillian’s full story.

“While I am grateful for many things that happened (or didn't) throughout 2020, I have some major COVID regrets when it comes to my waistline. When my "fat-pants" started to get a little snug, I was saved by summer and dresses without waists. I told myself the vintage swimsuits that came up super high were really in this year and were really flattering on me. (FYI - they were not.) As fall crept up on me, so did my pants and I "leveled up" to the next size of fat-pants. Soon, they also threatened to no longer hold me together. I needed to make a drastic change and I couldn't keep blaming my weight and inactivity on COVID. I was struggling mentally and physically to be who I wanted to be, which was, healthy, by the way.

Enter ME12. I joined the fall/winter ME12 crew and we started in October. There would be Halloween candy, Thanksgiving dinners, Christmas Cookies and NYE drinks to distract me. This was a terrible idea I thought to myself but, I did it anyway. Five days a week for at least an hour I showed up either in my home or in the studio with my dedicated support team of ME12ers. I complained, sometimes real loud, I flipped off Robin behind his back, (sometimes in front of him), and I rolled my eyes at Megan when she told me I had to do two sets of 10, not just bust out 20 real quick. Sometimes I hated it. But, I felt it working.

After week one, my scan showed I was down 8 lbs of fat and up 2 lbs of muscle! YAY ME! I should tell you that I have a very difficult time sticking to anything...routine is not my favorite thing even though I really need to stick to one. I'm the queen of, eh, I don't feel like it, so I won't do it. Surprisingly, I stuck to the ME12 workouts quite well. It was hard to eat so many meals, so often during the day, but, I stuck to the nutrition aspect about 60% of the time (dudes...the holidays). Then, I skipped a day or two over Thanksgiving...I made up one workout on a weekend, so that was okay. Then it was Christmas and...I skipped a couple more...then it was New Years and dammit I just wanted to be on vacation. So...I missed a couple more.

As Megan and I discussed what my next step would be schedule-wise, I told Megan we had to face the fact that I failed...I failed ME12. I didn't want my before/after shots taken. I had not stuck to the nutrition 100%, I didn't have time to fit in my cardio every day...and I didn't drop 30 lbs and I didn't magically fit back into my non-fat pants. I tearfully admitted I had let her down.

Megan immediately told me that I had, in fact, NOT failed anything! I had succeeded!  After doing little to no workouts all year, I committed to five days a week for (almost) three months. I felt strong and had creases I'd never seen before because of muscles that I'd never developed. I had mobility without pain (I chronically had lower back pain which is now gone), I developed a routine, and I didn't stop when life got in the way! Being an all or nothing gal, I often give up if I slip up...but I didn't give up this time. I allowed myself to take a break over Thanksgiving and Christmas and just got right back on the horse afterwards. And it was okay!

It has been one month since I finished the ME12 program. I've continued to work out 4-5 days/week and it doesn't feel like a chore. It feels good! My fat pants fit again and will soon be making their way to the donation bag. I visited the Martin Luther King section of my closet (I have a dream) and zipped up a skirt I have never fit into before. I can't sit in it yet but it zipped up! Changes are happening...ME12 pulled me out of my funk I had been in for over 5 years and got me looking and feeling positive.

I was able to go into my closet and pick out any shirt vs worrying about how it would look with my pants. Something I had not been able to do for years.

There is some sacrifice with ME12, sure...but it's about priorities. I had to make some budgetary changes. Some people spend hundreds or thousands on wine clubs, dining out, vacations, etc. I had to cut back on some spending to make it work but it was temporary.

ME12 gave me amazing results. Not because I dropped all the pants sizes, but because it ignited something within me that put me back on track. I got passionate about my physical and mental health again. And that is priceless!”
