How Jake Found Strength, Consistency, and a Community That Pushes Him Higher

Fitness looks different for everyone. For Jake, it was about staying capable of the high-elevation adventures he loves.

As someone who’s spent much of his life active, outdoors, and moving, Jake suddenly found himself in a new season — one where his career shifted from physical work to a far more sedentary role. And like a lot of us who enter an office-heavy chapter, he started to feel the gap. Less movement. Less energy. Less strength he could count on.

But here’s the part that mattered most: Jake knew he wasn’t done saying “yes” to the adventures he loved, including backpack hunting in high-elevation terrain. He just needed a plan that would help him stay strong enough to do it for years to come.

“When I originally signed up, my goal was to build a consistent fitness routine and improve my overall strength and energy levels,” he says.

Consistency wasn’t a new challenge — he’d tried big-box gyms, but nothing truly stuck. The desire was there. The accountability wasn’t.

So he went searching.

One day, looking for a gym near his office, he found Studio ME. The timing, the location, and the style of training all aligned. He could get in, get a solid workout before work, and still have the evenings open for family life. That mattered a lot.

“I needed accountability if I was going to stay consistent long term,” he admits. And walking into a group class — with a coach who knows you, notices you, and checks in when you miss a day — turned out to be the difference-maker.

Getting Started: Building the Foundation

When Jake joined, his first goal was clear: get stronger and get in better shape. But his deeper motivation was what made it stick. Getting older year after year doesn’t have to mean slowing down — but it does require being proactive. Especially if you’re hauling gear up to high altitudes.

He could see it coming: if he wanted to continue the physically demanding hunts he loved, he’d need a routine he could trust and training that adapted with him, not training he had to figure out alone.

Group classes gave him the structure. Coaches gave him the guidance. The community gave him the push. And showing up got easier — not because life magically slowed down, but because accountability became built-in.

What Changed: The Power of Consistency

Since joining, Jake has overcome the biggest challenge he had: sticking to a routine long enough to let it work.
“Being in a group class led by a trainer who knows you — and asks where you were when you miss — gives me that little extra motivation to show up,” he says.

We all know that feeling: the “I don’t really want to go today” moment. Jake found a community that helps you move through those moments instead of getting stuck in them.

And because he stayed consistent, everything else shifted. His strength improved. His confidence in his long-term fitness grew. And the physical demands of his hobbies feel doable again — not something he has to hope he’ll be able to keep up with.

“Now I feel like I can continue my fitness journey for the long term because I can continue challenging myself and keep a consistent routine.”

That’s it. That’s the real milestone.

Why Studio ME Works for Him

Ask Jake what he likes best and he doesn’t hesitate: the environment.

“It’s very friendly. The trainers know and care about everyone, and the people in the group classes are friendly and supportive.”

He talks about how every workout feels challenging no matter what level you’re at — in a good way. No intimidation. No competition. Just everyone moving toward their own goals, side by side.

His Advice to Anyone Thinking About Starting

“Do not hesitate.”

The workouts meet you where you are. The coaches guide you through what you need. The community carries you on the days you’re not feeling it. And the accountability? It's built into the system.

Because as Jake proves, a consistent routine doesn’t just make you stronger.

It keeps you doing what you love — whether that’s hiking mountains, chasing kids, lifting heavy things, or just feeling like yourself again.

Congrats, Jake — we’re so proud to have you as our December Member of the Month. Thanks for showing up, pushing hard, and inspiring the rest of us to keep climbing our own mountains.
