Overcoming Postpartum Challenges and Regaining Confidence

When Julia first signed up, her goal was simple yet powerful - to get back into shape after having a baby, but what she found in the process was more than just about weight loss.

Julia at Open Gym December 2022.

“I gained 50 pounds during pregnancy and did not recognize myself in the mirror." This took a toll on my mental health, relationships, and overall quality of life.” Despite the common expectation that the weight would easily shed off, it was not the case for her. As someone who had always been fit, she knew she needed help to regain her pre-baby shape and also prepare for her upcoming wedding.

Julia found us through a Google search and what prompted her to seek us out was our convenient location near her house and our small group training option. At the time of enrollment, she was already doing CorePower Yoga for a month but had not lifted weights in about a year. Before getting pregnant, she was a dedicated fitness enthusiast, working out 4-5 days a week and loving heated yoga sculpt sessions. However, post-baby, she only managed to work out in her living room and later opted for walks during the later stages of her pregnancy. great.

“I was embarrassed to see old friends and coworkers. I GAINED weight after having the baby despite being told by everyone it would just slide right off me because of how active I use to be. My mental health was awful. My fiancé has always been very supportive, he could tell I had no confidence and was very unhappy with the way I looked. He offered to pay for my training as he knew it would help my mental health and overall body image.”

Since joining ME Fitness, Julia client has faced several challenges in balancing her new life as a mother, a career woman, and a bride-to-be. Yet, she has overcome those challenges with determination and perseverance.

“Balancing my new life. A career, a fiancé, planning a wedding, the sweetest baby who gets sick more times than I can count………Mixed with still wanting to live life without only focusing on getting back to myself after has been the biggest challenge.”

Despite the ups and downs, she feels optimistic about her future. While she admits that she is not where she wants to be just yet, she celebrates the progress she has made. She is fitting back into her jeans and starting to feel like her old self again.

“I am not where I want to be but I am staying on track to my goal. At the start of every year I write down goals for myself. I said I want to be 165 by year end and I was 168 last week. I am fitting in my jeans again and starting to feel back to myself.”

What she liked best about working with us is the consistency we have provided in her semi-private group. Our trainers, especially Kailey (her coach), have kept her on track every single week and have encouraged her to make better choices to reach her goals. They have also helped her find other ways to stay active throughout the week. Studio ME Fitness has become her anchor in pursuing her fitness goals, relieving her of the stress of planning her own fitness routine. She simply needs to show up at 6 am, and everything else falls into place.

To anyone considering starting their own health and fitness journey, she offers some valuable advice.

“Be kind to yourself, we are our meanest critics and nobody thinks of you that way. Be consistent. Live your life but keep on keeping on. Even when life gets chaotic, stay committed to your goals. And most importantly, live your life fully, without forgetting to prioritize their health and fitness along the way.”

Julia’s journey represents the power of determination and the ability to overcome obstacles. She has shown that with the right support and a strong mindset, one can regain confidence and achieve their goals. Congratulations to our Client of the Month for her incredible progress and commitment to her health and well-being.
