From self-doubt to feeling more confident in their future.

Keeping with the theme of transformations, this month we would like to introduce you to June Member of the Month, Henvy!

Henvy and last month’s MOTM, Nick, went through Studio ME’s 12-Week Transformation Program together (albeit at different times of the day) and they both left the program feeling both physically and mentally transformed.

Here is Henvy’s story:

Like many of our members, Henvy did not feel comfortable going to a “regular” gym. Henvy felt too self-conscious and just didn’t feel safe working out in public. Plus, although Henvy had always wanted to try it, they didn’t have any previous experience with weight training and “knew practically nothing about building a fitness routine.”

Because Henvy was looking for professional guidance, they Google searched “boutique gyms with personal training programs” and found Studio ME. Lucky for us, they “decided to book a consultation appointment” and the rest, as they say, is history.

Just kidding. There is a lot more left to Henvy’s story.

Since college, Henvy has had a range of goals from creating a sustainable fitness routine, finding community, and seeing some mental and physical changes. Henvy told us that they had “had this goal since I started college, but I never put it to realization. I finally stepped up when I graduated.”

Specifically, Henvy wanted to change their inactive lifestyle since it was not working well for them at all. “For example,” Henvy told us, “I was scared that I would develop health issues like pre-mature hypertension (family history), and I would go back to depression when working from home with no outside interactions. At the same time, I had the goal of losing weight and getting stronger.”

Henvy decided to do something about these fears as soon they graduated because, as Henvy told us, it was “important because I wanted to pay more attention to my physical and mental health right after college, and I was looking for a community where people bring positive vibes.”

Studio ME is truly a great community where I 100% feel safe to be the best version of myself and thrive.

And find a community they did.

When asked what they liked best about Studio ME, Henvy answered:

“Honestly, just one word – humanity. Working out with Studio ME, I always feel like the team genuinely care about my wellbeing and has been always providing support in any way they can. Coaches’ expertise in PT, patience, positivity, and flexibility are beyond. Studio ME is truly a great community where I 100% feel safe to be the best version of myself and thrive.”

Readers, I started crying when I read this. Community is one of our main values here at Studio ME and we love hearing about when it truly makes a difference.

Plus, it was this community and the trust that Henvy had both in their coaches and in the process that helped them carry on even when the desired results weren’t immediately visible.

“Once I started, I didn’t dread coming to the studio at all. As matter of fact, I was looking forward to it every day. I struggled to see some drastic physical changes in the beginning, but I trusted the process and kept pushing myself while adjusting to the new pace of this active lifestyle.”

When Henvy began the ME12 Transformation program, they were really just looking for physical changes (muscle gain and fat loss) and consistency. “My first goal was to build a habit of coming to gym and stay sane since I just started working full-time. Physically, I was aiming to see some weight loss.”

And, as you can tell by the pictures, Henvy achieved impressive body transformations. But they also recognized the benefits in other aspects of their life.

Prior to joining Studio ME, Henvy had run cross country (JV) in high school but they didn’t have much other experience in fitness. And, Henvy said, they were doing “basically nothing” to achieve their wellness goals. “The need and the want were always there but I suppressed them.”

Not only were they “doing basically nothing” to achieve their health and wellness goals, Henvy didn’t see themself as a fit person: “Back then, I still had doubt [about whether] I would ever be able to be fit or strong. I didn’t see myself as someone who would be knowledgeable or even comfortable performing gym exercises, especially weight training ones. Lifting anything was quite foreign to me. Appearance-wise, I was at the chubbiest I have ever been and that really made me self-conscious.”

By attending consistently and trusting the process, Henvy saw some major changes.

Of course, Henvy achieved their physical goals. But they also morphed into a “fit” person: “Along the way, I picked up yoga, Pilates, and indoor cycling outside the studio too. Also, for the first year of the program, I didn’t cook for myself at all (Door Dashing every day). That changed when I started ME12 and took nutrition and holistic fitness routine seriously. Now, I can proudly call myself a somewhat descent cook.”

Henvy also told us that, “I’m very excited about [the future] as I know for sure I will keep an active lifestyle for the rest of my life. It just feels amazing when I know I have so many activities I can lean on to take my mind off the daily hustle and bustle while keeping myself healthy for the long run. I do want to keep pushing myself to be leaner and stronger too.”

So Henvy, what would you say to anyone else who might be looking to get started on their own health and fitness journey?

“Don’t ignore your urge to be the best version that you can be!! I waited and became my worst enemy. Just start, even if it starts small, and trust the process.”
