From “I’ll Try It” to 9 Years Strong: Teri’s Studio ME Story

When Teri first walked into Studio ME nine years ago, she wasn’t looking for a long-term commitment. In fact, she thought it might be just another short phase.

“Groupon! (is that still a thing?!)” That’s how it started — a deal, a convenient location near her office, and a willingness to try something new.

At the time, her goal wasn’t complicated.

She just wanted to find something she could actually stick with.

Getting Started: Finding Something That Stuck

Like many people, Teri had tried to stay active over the years — walking, biking, snow sports, classes at Lifetime or the Y. But nothing quite clicked.

“I didn’t have a regular fitness routine… I was just winging it, trying to find ‘that thing’ that would motivate me to keep going back.”

Looking back, she can see what was missing.

“I think I was really craving that coaching environment, positive feedback and community instead of doing it all solo.”

At first, it was all about convenience.
“I was looking for something that I could go to right away after work. If I went home, I’d get sidetracked and wouldn’t end up getting any exercise.”

Studio ME solved that problem.

But something else happened too.

More Than Just a Workout

When Teri started, her goal was simple:

“Honestly, my first goal was to just show up consistently.”

8 sessions a month— she started building a routine. And pretty quickly, she realized this wasn’t like the other places she had tried.

“I loved the community, the accountability, and I had actual coaching showing me how to improve my form.”

She still remembers the early days training with Coach Siri and Coach Liz.

“How can you not be pumped and feel successful being in their classes?”

What started as a trial turned into something much bigger.

Her Tuesday and Thursday workouts became non-negotiable — a consistent rhythm that she’s maintained for nearly a decade.

Making Herself a Priority

At the time she joined, Teri was entering a new season of life.

“My husband and I were starting the new journey of being empty-nesters, so I think I was feeling the pull to make myself a priority.”

Studio ME became that space — time carved out just for her.

And what she thought might be temporary quickly became part of who she is.

“I probably thought it would just be another jump start… Ha! You’re stuck with me now!”

Navigating Challenges (and Staying Consistent)

Over the years, Teri has faced her share of challenges — especially injuries from other activities.

“Sprained ankles, knee and shoulder sprains… those have probably been my biggest challenges.”

But instead of stopping, she adapted.

“All the coaches along with Megan have been a great resource on how to continue to be active during my healing process.”

Whether it’s modifications, PT exercises, or encouragement, she’s found a way to keep moving forward — even when things weren’t perfect.

Looking Ahead: Strong, Positive, and Still Going

Teri’s outlook on the future is exactly what you’d expect from someone who has built a consistent fitness habit over time.

“I feel awesome!”

She’s realistic — she knows there will always be aches, pains, and challenges.

But her mindset is what stands out.

“I am a glass is half-full gal and you just have to keep moving.”

She’s grateful for what her body can do — and committed to keeping it that way.

“I have a pact with a close friend to keep pushing each other and challenge each other to stay active. Age is just a number.”

What Keeps Her Coming Back

Ask Teri what she loves most about Studio ME, and her answer says everything about your brand.

“I didn’t realize how much I have come to rely upon the community, people and coaching.”

It’s not just about the workouts.

“I feel so incredibly supported, encouraged and seen when I am here.”

And every time she walks through the door, she knows what to expect:

“There will be laughter, hard work and camaraderie — which makes any workout that much better.”

Her Advice to Anyone Getting Started

Teri keeps it honest:

“People at other gyms often say their gym is so special and so unique — but we really are.”

And if someone is unsure?

“Come and take a tour, try the 2-week trial. If you don’t feel it, no harm done. Just keep moving until you find what works for you.”

What Teri’s Story Shows Us

Teri’s story isn’t about a dramatic transformation.

It’s about something much more powerful:

➡️ Finding a routine that sticks
➡️ Building consistency over years
➡️ Creating a space where you feel supported
➡️ And showing up — again and again

Because sometimes the biggest win…
is simply not stopping.

Congrats, Teri — our Member of the Month! We’re so lucky you took a chance on that Groupon nine years ago. Your consistency, energy, and positivity make this community better every day.
