Adjusting to your 'NEW NORMAL'
We are all starting to settle into our “new normal”. It’s time to face the hard truth that this isn’t ending anytime soon. After reading that it may set in a sense of panic but I want you to take a deep breath and let’s focus on how we can make the most of this situation with healthy choices everyday.

Are you experiencing things like:
- Increased sense of hunger?
- Boredom eating?
- Sitting too long?
- Poor posture?
- Feeling tired all the time?
- Gaining weight?
Let’s fix this!!!
Right here. Right now.
Let’s commit to making better habits and healthy choices, together!
Here are a few things you can do everyday:
- **Move your body **more frequently throughout your day. Take a walk, set a timer to get up from your desk every 30 mins, go for a jog, stretch, etc
- **Exercise—**You don’t need an hour or more. Block out 20 mins and get a quick sweat session in. Whatever your schedule allows for.
- Take short work breaks to relive tension and stress. Sitting for hours on end is not healthy. Get up and move. Pretend like you are still at work. Get up and go get water, eat lunch away from your computer. Go for a walk over lunch. Have walking meetings.
- **Try something new! **Maybe a virtual workout or a craft class? Anything that interests you.
Most well-rounded workouts last anywhere from 45min to 1 hour which is only about 4% of your day.
**But what happens after this hour of hard work? **
Chances are, you go sit in in a chair and start work or park yourself in front of a TV or your favorite spot to read.
Did you know the average american sits for a minimum of 10 hours a day?
Some research has shown that even an hour of intense exercise isn’t enough to counteract all the effects of a sedentary lifestyle.

What would happen if we cut that sitting time down to just 5 hours a day?
What if we spent most of the day moving, with only an hour or two of stillness in the middle?
I know, you are wondering how can I move that much but let’s take a look at some trade workers….
People who work in the construction industry, farmers, landscapers, health professionals (especially now), professional athletes (the list goes on) spend majority of their shifts on their feet moving and lifting heavy things.
All of this to say that our bodies can handle it!
Our muscles work harder, we burn more calories, our brains respond by improving our mood and cognitive function, and we typically weight less. We just overall feel better!
I challenge you to see what you can do it be more active throughout your day.
Do you have opportunities to get up and move?
Can you turn a meeting into a walking meeting? Can you stand with your current workstation? Can you go for a walk over lunch? Maybe after dinner?
Our “new normal” has us all out of wack. Off our regular schedule and sitting WAY more than ever.
So, who’s willing to accept this “new normal”?
To create a schedule or routine that allows for more movement?
To take a virtual workout class or schedule 30 minutes with a personal trainer?
Take a daily walk?
TO RISE UP and take steps (literal steps) to keep us healthy?
